teamThe @lantic 7's Invitational Team have returned from yet another international tournament as Cup Winners of the senior provincial and club competition.

The team, made up from the stars of this year's @lantic 7's series for schools, participated in the Namibia IRB 7's tournament held over the weekend.

@lantic 7's Moves to Lowveld PDF Print E-mail

The fourteenth tournament of the @lantic 7's series moves to HS Rob Ferreira in White River on Saturday, 10 October.  Some of the country's strongest schools 7's teams will be in action, amongst others Ben Vorster, Merensky and Middelburg Hoërskool.

The @lantic Invitation team, selected from the outstanding players of this year's @lantic series, won an international tournament in Windhoek last weekend.  The South African school boys were just too fast and skilful for their more experienced opponents.  According to sport promoter, Willem Strauss the expected inclusion of rugby in the Olympic Games in 2016, a decision which will be taken this weekend in Copenhagen, is already an injection for 7's rugby at school level.  "The players currently participating in the @lantic series may be the potential stars who represent South Africa at the 2016 Olympic Games" said Strauss.

Windhoek IRB 7's PDF Print E-mail

Four of the six best sevens rugby teams in the world, including the chart toppings Springboks will participate in the inaugural Trustco Namibia Sevens tournament in Windhoek’, Namibia to be played on September 25th and 26th.
South Africa, Samoa, Fiji and Argentina are front runners in the International Rugby Board’s World Series and will be joined by Portugal and Tunisia as teams who participated in the Rugby Sevens World Cup earlier this year.
Five more teams from the continent will give the tournament, to the played at the Heine Geingob Stadium, an African flavor.
Uganda, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and hosts Namibia will add to the festival which received official backing from the IRB.
Spain will complete the line-up, although official confirmation on their participation was not yet confirmed.
World sevens series winning coach Paul Treu attended the launch of the event in Windhoek on Tuesday and expressed his gratitude to the Namibian Rugby Union for the invitation to participate.
