Jacques ErasmusThe value of the @lantic 7's series for schools proved its worth once again!

Jacques Erasmus, a young player from Brandwag in Benoni have been included in the Springbok 7's training squad.

This follows on last year's inclusion of another @lantic series player, Gerhard Van Den Heever, who was subsequently snapped up by the Bulls Super14 franchise.

According to Darryl Weir, coach of the @lantic Invitational team that won the 2008 Dubai Overseas International competition, "this is not a surprise to those in the know as there is tremendous talent that come though the @lantic 7's series every year and there are plenty more outstanding players that will step up to the professional structures in the near future".

Die @lantic Uitnodigingspan het al ses hul wedstryde in die Overseas International kompetisie in Dubai gewen.   Die Suid-Afrikaanse skoolseuns het die finaal teen Wooden Spoon Blues, 'n internasionale Uitnodingspan, met 29 - 10 gewen op die "A" veld, voor 30 000 toeskouers en onder luide applous van die groot kontingent Suid-Afrikaanse ondersteuners wat ook later die aand die Springbokke se oorwinning sou vier.

South African sevens is healthy and promises to become another world champion sport for South Africa.

That is the opinion of well known sport promoter Willem Strauss.

While the Springbok sevens squad celebrated their victory in the Dubai and the country is gripped in sevens fever in the run up to the George tournament there is another sevens team that has silently stepped onto the international sevens scene.
 
The Overseas International Champions for Dubai were a young squad made up mostly of schoolboys that gave the senior players a lesson in sevens.

Dubai Diary Day2 PDF Print E-mail

The team won their first 2 games convincingly today.

Game1 vs CSG Old Boys became a one sided affair within the first 2 minutes with @lantic scoring 61 points and conceding 5.

Game 2 vs Racing Club were a tough encounter for the first few minutes while the boys absorbed the physcial onslaugth from the huge Nigerians.

Thereafter the @lantic boys were once again unstoppable amassing 52 points and conceding 5.

Friday's first game is against Castaways who seems to be the better of the pool sides in the @lantic pool.

With Thursday's performance the team has already qualified for the quarter finals.
