Dubai Diary Day1 PDF Print E-mail

The team arrived in Dubai in 3 groups from yesterday morning.
The first batch arrived at 09:00 yesterday morning.
The boys had a busy day stating with a lunch with the Springbok 7's squad. The SA ambassador in the UAE welcomed the boys.

Last night they attended the opening function in the form of a beach party at the Meridian Hotel. Half of the team still had to write their matric exams yesterday and had to join the squad a bit later. The 2nd group arrived at 02:00 this morning and the last 3 at 09:00 this morning.

There will be no rest for the late arrivals as they will go straight to the Dubai College grounds for a practice session.

Today the team will have a training session and thereafter tackle the desert in 4x4's with a desert drive that ends with a braai under the desert sky.

This will be the last day of relaxation as the games start bright and early tomorrow morning.

The most promising and talented young players were selected throughout the @lantic 7’s series and invited to attend a training camp after the Champions tournament.

The training camp took place on Sunday 2 November. The @lantic Invitation Team that will compete in the IRB Dubai sevens series at the end of November was selected from this group of players.

They have huge boots to fill as the 2007 @lantic Invitation team had convincing victories in all their games and the team hopes to continue this winning streak in the 2008 series.

Dubai Pool Games PDF Print E-mail

The @lantic squad will be up against formidable opossition in this year's Dubai IRB 7's Overseas International competition.

The team will be kick off bright and early on Day1 against CSG Old Boys at 9:30. We trust that the youngsterswill be too fit and mobile for the Old Boys.

The 2nd game on Day 1 at 13:30 is against Racing Club. As the name indicates these guy are fast. The mid day desert heat will definitely be a factor in this one!

Day 2 see the team against The Castaways, an extemely competitive team who always finish among the medals. This game takes place at 12:50.

Depending on the final Pool finshing position the guys will then probably end up against one of the main contenders in the quarter and semi-finals. The Pyrenees and Royal Airforce are teams not to be taken lightly. Both these teams have been playing together for a number of seasons and know each other well. One of these teams always end up top of this log and the @lantic boys will have their work cut out to get past them.

 

 
Harmony 2008 Champions PDF Print E-mail

This year’s national @lantic 7’s series came to an end with the Champion of Champions tournament that took place on Saturday 1 November at Atomic Sport Academy just outside of Pretoria.  

The following schools competed for the ultimate prize. HS Ben Vorster, HS  Voortrekker Bethlehem, Harmony Sport Academy, HS  Excelsior, Potchefstroom Gymnasium, HS  Middelburg, HTS Vereeniging, HS New Orleans, Glenwood High, Dale College, HS  Framesby, HS  Upington, HS Merensky, HS Monument, HS Waterkloof and @lantic Samurai Invitation team.
